This is it....there is no more....

Tuesday morning...rushing around like lunatics - we are offski !

Yesterday was another lovely day - car wash, lunch ( coconut prawns and grouper sandwich.....mmmmmm yum yum ! ) and then back on the beach. It is wayyyy too hot for me during the midday time, so I just stayed cool inside while Ali dragged the last few hours of sun into her body, then at 6 ish, out I came - mask & shorts ! Spent about 2 hours in the sea with Lily snorkeling for shells and fish, it was really lovely.

" I have found a snail shell !!!!!!!" came the shout.

"Oh thats lovely darling..." our reply.

" No. You dont understand....a real snails shell...."

" Of course you did Lily....."

WOW !! This is it !!!

.....and then, she dived down and dragged this thing up !!

I didn't know things even grew this big in the sea !!

So we went out for a few drinks to round our holiday off, and by 10pm, we were home, Lily in bed, Ali and I on the balcony watching another storm blow across the front. The night before i had taken about 200 pictures hoping to get some lightening on film with absolutely no luck what-so-ever. I tried again last night and OMFG, this is a tiny sample of what I got !!!!! I could not believe it !!!

....night becomes day....

Well there you go - that's it...we are about to leave our paradise beach house and head north to Orlando again.

See you all soon...

Monday 2nd May - Last days !!

Urgghhhh....Monday morning. that means just one thing - heading home tomorrow !

Yesterday was a great day. Arrived at the waterpark in Tampa at about midday, hot waether and loads of fun until the park closed at 6. Didn't get any photos as didn't take the cameras ( a waste of time really as you never get the chance to use them and I just worry about leaving them around ). There were a few bugs but nowhere near as bad as we have at the beach and didn't really bother us at all. We got home ( after a couple of stops....first to IHOP for stacks of pancakes, and them an Ice Cream Parlour for stacks of ice cream ! ) at about 9.30pm...Lily zonked in bed about 15 mins later and Ali and I sat on the veranda with drinks watching a storm blow across infront of us - perfect end to a really nice day.

Despite crossing all our fingers, we awoke to the swarms of lovebugs covering the house and beach - dam ! Not quite sure what to do about it...do we stay local, or go out somewhere, perhaps some shopping ? ( can't imagine Ali saying no to that ! )

The news on the TV tells us that Bin Laden is dead ?? All smells a bit fishy to me - and I'm not talking about the contents of Ali's shepherds pie....

The sea is an amazing color today, I think you would call it turquoise, I will go and get a photo in a minute so you can make up your own minds.

Spotted 3 dolphins yesterday morning just cruising through the area and only about 20 metres from the beach. Haven't seen the Manatee since I spotted him last week, but to be fair, we haven't been looking that hard.

My feet are much better, and so are my bites. Anti-Histermine kicked in and alot more comfy and touch wood, not itching anymore which is a real blessing I can tell you ! ( but...I am going to be left with the scars as a memory ! )

Lily has been losing a few of her bands that hold her braids together - she is most upset as we are not sure they will last until we get home although Ali is doing her best to keep them in.

Here is the gauntlet we have to run everyday we go in or out the house....

....and what awaits us !

Nice shiny car from the back....

....YUK from the front !!

Infact, I have just decided I best go and get a car wash - the bugs leave an acid residue that damages paintwork and I don't want to be accused of not looking after the car !!

Can you spot the lizard ??

There are hundreds of them wherever you go, all scurrying all over the place - some of them are the size of a small canoe and regularly take children when they get a chance.

Other wildlife we see :

Sea Eagle - all the time...lovely sight watching them swoop into the sea
Pelicans - all the time
Racoons - scavenging at night...a bit like our urban foxes
Dolphins - all the time if you look
Manatee - just once but he is a regular visitor
Armadillo - have seen a few....just plain wierd !
Squirrels - although not at the beach
Snapping Turtle - I saw him yesterday in the river by the water-park
Wild Horse & Camels roam the beach - a real pain to keep dodging

Well, if I don't post again, we will see you all too soon. Our flight is the VS016 from Orlando @ 19.30 Tuesday 3rd - arrives Gatwick 08.45 Wednesday 4th...

No Shuttlecock...Lots of bugs....

D'oh - NASA have scrubbed the launch on Monday - I guess it just wasn't meant for me to see it. I am gutted....so close to seeing one. Never mind.

To add to the dissapointment,, the swarms of lovebugs is making our time here pretty miserable, we are either trapped in the house, or forced to drive well away from the area. We have decided to travel to Tampa today to a water park as it is just unbearable here which is a great shame. The house is covered outside, and littered inside - avoid the area at the end of April and again end of September when the main swarms arrive !!
